A Sample Security Access System with HMI CapabilitiesAn example of an integrated solution to an existing database was at a large hospital involving Card Access Security. They had an existing badging system using Datacard containing more than 12,000 employees. I & C Systems Engineering (ICS) wrote a Microsoft Access database to interface the badging system. Using this Access database, we added information about each door in the system as well as panic buttons and motion detectors. Bar code readers were added at each door and brought directly into the PLC. RSView was used as the HMI software between the PLC and the badging system database. As a card was generated, it was automatically linked to the PLC. When a card was swiped, the PLC searched the database and granted or denied access. The PLC also monitored and controlled all of the doors, panic buttons and motion detectors and displayed all activity on the RSView interface.
